Bicycle parking spaces and bicycle parking garages
More space must be created for bikes with child trailers or cargo bikes.
The expansion of secure parking spaces and parking garages is a step in this direction.
The space provided in front of public facilities, in residential complexes, shopping centers and at bus stops is often insufficient, especially for larger utility bikes. Since 2021, the Brandenburg government has not only created cargo bike purchase premiums, but has also given the building regulations more leeway for bicycle parking spaces.
Not only can municipalities now stipulate a required number of parking spaces, it is now also possible to replace up to a fifth of the car parking spaces stipulated in a parking space statute with bicycle parking spaces. Requirements for car parking spaces can be reduced if appropriate mobility concepts are available.
We want to use this new scope as a building block for a traffic turnaround in Cottbus.
